1. Current status of cancer

Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, and is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, about 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer. Approximately 70% of deaths from cancer occur in low- and middle-income countries. Late-stage presentation and inaccessible diagnosis and treatment are common. In 2017, only 26% of low-income countries reported having pathology services generally available in the public sector. More than 90% of high-income countries reported treatment services are available compared to less than 30% of low-income countries. The economic impact of cancer is significant and is increasing. The total annual economic cost of cancer in 2010 was estimated at approximately US$ 1.16 trillion (4).Cancer arises from the transformation of normal cells into cancer cells in a multistage process that generally progresses from a pre-cancerous lesion to a malignant cancer. Therefore, it is urgent to develop easy and effective cancer treatments

2.Cancer treatments

There are some of the most common treatments for cancer:

Surgical treatment

Surgical treatment today is the leading method in the treatment of cancer, and in the treatment of certain tumors, and in general the only possible one. So what are the types of operations.

Radical operations. The best option for the patient. If this type of operation is performed, it means that the tumor has been completely removed following all oncology rules. Very often, when performing radical operations for the initial stages of the tumor process, additional special treatment (chemotherapy and radiation therapy) is not required.

Cytoreductive (palliative) operations. When performing this type of intervention, part of the tumor is removed (if it is technically impossible to perform a radical operation). The goal is to reduce the volume of tumor tissue to facilitate the effects of chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Symptomatic operations - the purpose of these interventions is to alleviate for the patient the symptoms of tumor complications. This is the imposition of bypass anastomoses in obstruction, ligation of blood vessels with bleeding from a tumor, and the like. There may be many options.

Radiation therapy
