The Study on Games along with the Interactive Teaching Approach in Primary School

摘要: This paper mainly focuses on the study of games in primary school based upon the theory of Interactive Teaching Approach. Interactive Teaching Approach acclaims the mutual interaction between teacher and students, students and students. According to this ides, combining the features of children, games become a popular way for teaching in primary. However, in real practice, some problems still exist in the process of game playing. The author wants to find out the reasons and also give some suggestions about game designing.

The Theory of Interactive Teaching Approach

Definition of interaction and its features

Interaction, the word derived from Latin verb agree, means to do, and the Latin word inter means among. (Wilga M. Rivers, 2000:57) Wilga M. Rivers (2000:4) points out that interaction means that “students achieve facility in using a language when their attention is focused on conveying and receiving authentic messages.” According to Gordon Wells (1981:46), “linguistic interaction is a collaborative activity, hellip; any act of linguistic communication involves the establishment of a triangular relationship between the sender, the receiver and the context of situation.” Without the certain context of situation, language interaction can not be achieved or even exist. “Interaction is the collaborative exchange of thoughts, feelings, or ideas between two or more people, resulting in a reciprocal effect on each other.” claimed by H. Douglas Brown (2001:165) Referring to the definitions of interaction above, it reveals that the function of language and the essence and goal of foreign language teaching is to interact with each other. The key point of foreign language teaching is the development of communication.
